Exterior Cleaning in Weybridge
Weybridge packs a lot into one postcode: riverside villas by the Wey and the Thames, slate and clay-tiled period houses around Church Street and Monument Green, and big detached homes under the trees of St George's Hill. One town, three very different kinds of house
Weybridge grew in stages, and you can still read them in the rooftops. The old core around Church Street, Bridge Road and Heath Road has buildings going back to the 16th and 17th centuries, with handmade clay tiles on the oldest roofs and slate on many of the later Victorian ones. East of the town centre, Oatlands has a run of Georgian-inspired houses and low-rise flats along Oatlands Drive. Then to the south there is St George's Hill, the private estate W. G. Tarrant started laying out in 1911, where most homes sit on plots of around an acre among mature woodland.
Each of those areas ages differently. Slate on a Victorian villa in Portmore Park picks up lichen and black streaks; tile-hung gables on a Tarrant house on the Hill grow moss on the shaded side; a modern rendered mansion goes green behind its downpipes. That is why we look at the building before we quote, rather than treating every Weybridge job the same.

Trees, rivers and why Weybridge stays damp
Two things keep Weybridge exteriors growing algae: shade and water. St George's Hill and the roads off Heath Road are heavily treed, so roofs and paths there spend a lot of the year in shade and under leaf drop. Down by the Wey and the Thames, around Wey Road, Thames Street and the Wey Navigation, the air is moister and the ground can stay wet for weeks after a wet spell. River gravels on the north side of town hold water close to the surface, which shows up as green patios that never quite dry.
Steam deals with that growth without blasting it. It lifts moss, algae, lichen and black spot at low pressure, so we are not forcing water under tiles or scouring the face off old brick and stone. Roof cleans finish with a professional biocide treatment to slow regrowth, and they come with a 5-year guarantee.

Working carefully in the conservation areas
Weybridge has two conservation areas: the Town Centre, around St James' Church and the historic streets beside it, and Monument Green at the north end of the High Street, centred on the York Monument. Both have older soft brick, painted stucco, rubble stone and decorative slate. If your home is listed or sits in one of these areas, a gentle method matters more than a fast one, and steam is about as gentle as exterior cleaning gets.
We never walk on roofs. Our own 19m cherry picker lets IPAF-trained operatives reach a ridge or a chimney stack without ladders or footprints on fragile tiles. Where a narrow street off the High Street makes access tight, we check parking and set-up before the day.

Know-How for Weybridge Homes
Victorian slate roofs in the town centre and Portmore Park collect lichen rather than thick moss, so they need patient steam work, not scraping.
Tarrant-era houses on St George's Hill often have half tile-hung elevations; moss gathers on the hanging tiles as well as the roof.
Mature lime trees on Monument Green and woodland on the Hill mean leaf-filled gutters every autumn.
Low ground near Wey Road, Walton Lane and Wey Meadows stays damp, so patios there go green and slippery quickly.
Sandy Bagshot soils around Brooklands drain fast, but shaded block paving on newer estates still grows weeds in the joints.
Gated roads on St George's Hill mean we plan arrival and access in advance.

Exterior Cleaning Weybridge FAQs
Answers to common questions about our exterior cleaning services. Can't see yours? Give us a call — we're always happy to help.

Do you work on St George's Hill?
Yes. Let us know how gate access works for your property and we will plan our arrival around it. Our cherry picker is useful on the Hill because many houses are large, with high ridges and wide roofs that ladders cannot safely reach.
Is steam cleaning suitable for older houses near Church Street and Monument Green?
It is the method we would recommend. Low-pressure steam lifts growth without the force of a jet washer, which matters on handmade clay tiles, soft stock brick and painted stucco.
My house is near the river and everything goes green. Will cleaning help?
Cleaning removes what is there now, and on roofs the biocide treatment slows it coming back. Homes near the Wey and the Thames will always see some regrowth because of the damp, so we will be honest about how often a clean is worth doing.
How far are you from Weybridge?
We are based in Molesey, about 20 minutes away, and work across Weybridge, Oatlands, Brooklands and St George's Hill regularly.
Can you do several services in one visit?
Yes, and it usually makes sense. We clean the roof first, clear the gutters of what comes down, then do the patio, driveway and windows.
