Window Cleaning in Fetcham
Fetcham's tap water comes from chalk springs, and chalk water is hard, which is why windows washed from the tap so often dry with spots. We clean with purified water on water-fed poles for a clear, streak-free finish, and take care of frames, sills, conservatories and roof lanterns too.

Hard water from the chalk
The Mill Pond springs on the edge of Fetcham are chalk springs, and they still supply much of the water for the surrounding area. They kept running through the droughts of 1976 and 2006. Chalk water is hard, carrying dissolved minerals that are left behind on glass as it dries.
That is why we do not clean windows with tap water. We use purified water, with the minerals taken out. It lifts dirt, then dries clear without leaving spots or a film behind.
Pure water also means no detergent residue. Soapy water left on glass attracts dust and pollen, which on a leafy road like Hawk's Hill means windows that look dull again within days. Rinsing with pure water leaves nothing behind for dirt to cling to.

Frames, sills, conservatories and lanterns
Many Fetcham homes from the 1930s onwards have been extended over the years, with conservatories at the back and roof lanterns over new kitchens. These collect leaves, pollen and bird mess, and are hard to reach yourself.
We clean the glass, the frames and the sills on every visit, and can clean conservatory roofs and roof lanterns as well. Internal window cleaning is available on request.
Roof lanterns in particular tend to be forgotten until they look grey from inside the kitchen. Because they are flat or shallow, leaves and moss sit on them, and under Fetcham's trees they can go green surprisingly quickly. A regular clean keeps the light coming in.

Trees, pollen and sap
The tall trees along Hawk's Hill and Guildford Road, and the mature gardens on Rookery Drive and The Mount, bring pollen in spring and sap and dust in summer. Windows under trees can look dull again quickly.
Water-fed poles let us reach upper windows safely from the ground, and the pure water rinses away pollen and sap without streaks. You can pair windows with a gutter clear or roof clean, so the house is finished all at once.

Fitting in with the rest of the house
Windows are usually the last thing we do on a bigger job. If your roof, gutters or stonework are being cleaned, there will be splashes and dust on the glass afterwards, so it makes sense to finish with the windows and leave the whole house looking right.
For older timber windows around The Old Street and the conservation area, pure water is a gentle option, as nothing is left on the glass or the paintwork. On modern uPVC windows it leaves frames looking bright rather than streaky. Either way, we will agree how often you would like us back, whether that is a regular clean or just a one-off before a special occasion.

Window Cleaning Fetcham FAQs
Answers to common questions about our exterior cleaning services. Can't see yours? Give us a call — we're always happy to help.

Why is pure water better than tap water in Fetcham?
Fetcham's water comes from the chalk, so it is hard. Tap water leaves mineral spots as it dries, which is why hand-washed windows often look worse a day later. Pure water has those minerals removed, so it dries clear with no spots or smears.
Do you clean frames and sills?
Yes. Frames and sills are cleaned on every visit, not just the glass, so the whole window looks clean rather than just the panes.
Can you clean my conservatory roof or roof lantern?
Yes. We clean conservatory roofs and roof lanterns as well as standard windows.
Do you clean inside too?
Internal window cleaning is available on request. Just mention it when you ask for a quote and we will plan the visit around it.
