Exterior Cleaning in Leatherhead

Leatherhead sits right where the chalk of the North Downs meets the clay of the Mole valley, and the houses here wear that setting on their roofs, paths and gutters. We clean them with low-pressure steam, working from our own cherry picker rather than ladders, for owners from the old town to the wooded private estates on the hill.

Exterior cleaning in Leatherhead

A town of two halves, and two kinds of dirt

Leatherhead is an unusual mix. North of the town centre, around Kingston Road and towards Leatherhead Common, the ground is London Clay: heavy, slow to drain and shaded in places by the oak, ash and hazel of Teazle Wood and the common. South and east, the land climbs onto the chalk of Leatherhead Downs, where homes on Headley Road and Reigate Road sit back behind mature trees and the houses of Highlands Road have wide frontages and large gardens.

That split shows up in what we find. The clay side tends to give us damp, green patios and block paving that rarely dries out between autumn and spring. On the higher ground it is more often tree debris: gutters packed solid, moss on north-facing roof slopes and lichen on shaded paths.

Older buildings in the conservation area — Leatherhead Leatherhead

Older buildings in the conservation area

The heart of the old town is a conservation area of around 19 hectares taking in parts of High Street, Bridge Street, North Street, Church Street and Gravel Hill, with dozens of listed buildings including the parish church of St Mary and St Nicholas. Some of the older properties along Bridge Street combine stock brick fronts with flint side walls, and Mole Valley has added extra planning controls on parts of Leatherhead to protect street details.

For homes like these, the method matters. Pressure washers can pit soft brick, blow out mortar and dislodge flints. Our low-pressure steam lifts moss, algae and grime without that force or harsh chemicals. If your home is listed or in the conservation area, tell us and we will talk you through exactly what we plan to do before we start.

Private estates on the edge of the Downs — Leatherhead Leatherhead

Private estates on the edge of the Downs

Givons Grove is a private estate of well over a hundred homes spread across more than 130 acres, many of them 1930s houses with Tudor-style detailing set among woodland. Tyrrells Wood, around a mile and a half from the town centre, is another private estate built around its golf course. Both have long private roads, generous plots and a lot of trees, which means long runs of guttering, large roof areas and stone terraces that sit in shade for much of the year.

These are exactly the jobs our 19m cherry picker was bought for. It reaches high ridges and far corners of wide roofs with no ladders on the tiles and nobody walking on them. Our IPAF-trained operatives check access and turning space with you beforehand so there are no surprises on the day.

Know-How for Leatherhead Homes

Clay ground in the north of the town around Kingston Road and Leatherhead Common keeps paving damp, so algae and black spot build up faster.

Edwardian and pre-war houses on Headley Road and Reigate Road sit under mature trees, so gutters and north-facing slopes need regular attention.

The old-town conservation area has flint and soft brick buildings that should never be blasted with high pressure.

Givons Grove and Tyrrells Wood are private, heavily wooded estates with large roofs and long gutter runs best reached by cherry picker.

Yew grows thickly on the downs around Cherkley, so gardens on the southern side of town can be shaded and stone slow to dry.

Exterior Cleaning Leatherhead FAQs

Answers to common questions about our exterior cleaning services. Can't see yours? Give us a call — we're always happy to help.

Pristine Exterior Cleaning at work
Do you cover all of Leatherhead, including the private estates?

Yes. We work throughout KT22, from the town centre and Kingston Road to Givons Grove, Tyrrells Wood and the houses along Headley Road and Reigate Road. On private estates we check access for the cherry picker with you before the day.

My house is in the Leatherhead conservation area. Is steam cleaning safe for it?

Low-pressure steam is far gentler than pressure washing and uses no harsh chemicals, which makes it well suited to old brick, flint and stone. If your home is listed or in the conservation area, let us know and we will explain our approach and keep any work sympathetic to the building.

How long does it take you to get to Leatherhead?

It is around 25 minutes from our base in Molesey, so Leatherhead is well within our regular working area and we can usually fit in a visit to quote without a long wait.

Can you do several services in one visit?

Yes, and for the wooded parts of Leatherhead it makes sense. We often clean and treat the roof, clear the gutters and then clean the windows and paving last, so nothing gets dirty again once it is done.
